Download Festival 2027 returns to its spiritual home at Donington Park, Derby from Wednesday 9 – Sunday 13 June 2027, a rock and metal pilgrimage where riffs roll over the airfield next to East Midlands Airport and the Download Dog stands guard over a small city of die-hard fans. Arena days run Friday 11 – Sunday 13 June, with campsites open from Wednesday 9 through Monday 14 June. Born in 2003 as the heir to Monsters of Rock, Download has grown into the UK’s premier heavy music weekender, hosting everything from classic titans to modern mosh-pit leaders across multiple stages. The 2027 line-up lands closer to the festival, but the track record speaks for itself: hundreds of bands spanning hard rock, metalcore, punk and more, delivered with pyro, LEDs and a sea of black T-shirts as far as the eye can see.

While the 2027 line-up is still to come, Download’s pedigree makes the wait exciting: across two decades at Donington it has hosted era-defining headliners including Metallica (who delivered two no-repeat sets for the 20th anniversary in 2023), Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Rammstein, Black Sabbath, System of a Down, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Linkin Park, Tool, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, and more; recent editions have featured Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold (2024), Green Day, Sleep Token and Korn topping 2025, and a 2026 bill led by Guns N’ Roses, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit — a snapshot of how the bill stretches from classic heavyweights to modern torch-bearers.

Getting there is straightforward. Big Green Coach runs direct services from 107 UK pick-up points — including new 2027 locations — to the festival, with weekend returns arriving Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and heading home Monday, plus day-return coaches for arena days. Drivers will need a car park pass in advance; Donington sits next to East Midlands Airport off the M1/A42, with local authorities issuing traffic guidance closer to the event. The closest stations are East Midlands Parkway (about 20 minutes by festival shuttle) and Derby (about 30 minutes).
