BoomTown Fair
9 Aug - 13 Aug
BoomTown Fair is one of the UK’s largest independent music festivals, a five-day interactive experience like no other, combining live art and immersive theatre with a diverse lineup of international superstars, spanning a multitude of genres. In 2023 Chapter Two: The Twin Trail will take place in August.
Along with the main live music stages and smaller street venues, there’s a huge line-up of electronic acts on late-running stages, from world music, folk, reggae and hip-hop, to punk rock and heavy metal, to techno, jungle, drum and bass and house. Plus cabaret, comedy, spoken word, impressive site constructions. All attendees are encouraged to dress up in fancy dress, the fancier the better!
The festival follows a storyline that evolves each year and is played out across all areas of the sprawling city, that is made up of 12 uniquely themed districts. It’s theatrically-led and hundreds of actors bring the film-like street sets to life and alongside enjoying the musical programme they encourage the public to explore all the city has to offer, to become their inner character and be a part of the story themselves.
Boomtown Fair has over 100 activities and workshops, from crafts and skills such as blacksmithing, copper beating & chainsaw carving, circus skills workshops and play, to the mind & soul improving, to dance and yoga. There’s also a full programme for kids, with circus skills, workshops and crafts, science and learning and play and face painting, and much more, plus a dedicated family camping area.
