Zadar Airport is the closest airport to Novalja and it’s around 85 km away. Ryanair flies to Zadar airport directly from London Stansted. It is also possible to travel by Croatia Airlines.
Split Airport to Novalja is approximately 3 hours away.
The access to Novalja from the north of Croatia, including Pula airport and Rijeka airport, is fairly easy due to the ferry connection, which operates throughout the summer on the line Continent (Prizna) – Island of Pag (Žigljen). The ferry operates around the clock, being run 13 times daily in both directions (times: 05:30 to 22:30).
It’s also possible to take the local shuttle or bus firstly to the Zadar’s main bus station and then transfer to a bus that takes you directly to Novalja.
There are regular buses from Zadar airport to Zadar main bus station. The approximate price is 30kn (4€) for a one way trip from the Airport to Zadar (and also from Zadar to the Airport). Buses will depart from Zadar Old Bus Terminal. Buses from Zadar Airport depart from the front gate of the international arrival terminal. The buses to Novalja are operated often by Antonio Tours bus company. Tickets for this journey are approximately 75kn (10€).
If you arrive during the day and are comfortable using public or private transport, it’s better to take the bus or a private shuttle than a taxi. Please make sure the taxi is marked since there can be illegal taxi operators on the island. Also, make sure you agree on the fare with the driver before you embark on any journey since they tend to make up prices after the ride (no taximeter or turning it off).
