Wychwood Festival 2027: A Family Celebration of Music, Culture and Creativity
Wychwood Festival returns to Cheltenham Racecourse, bringing its much-loved blend of live music, comedy, literature, food and family adventure back to the foot of the Cotswolds. With a friendly atmosphere, imaginative programming and a beautifully accessible setting, Wychwood remains one of the UK’s most welcoming boutique festivals.
Since its launch in 2005, Wychwood has built a reputation for combining established headliners with exciting new talent, while ensuring there is always something to discover beyond the main stage. Rock, pop, indie, folk, electronic music and global sounds sit alongside comedy, spoken word, theatre and hands-on creative experiences, creating a weekend designed for every generation.
The Human League are the first artist officially confirmed for the 2027 programme, taking the Saturday headline slot on Sam’s Stage. The pioneering British synth-pop icons will bring a set filled with enduring favourites, including Don’t You Want Me, Human and Love Action. The rest of the line-up is still to be announced, but Wychwood’s previous editions have consistently balanced major live acts, emerging performers, comedians, authors and family entertainers.
Wychwood is about far more than watching music. Its activity programme traditionally includes more than 100 workshops and sessions, ranging from arts and crafts, dance and circus skills to yoga, storytelling and music-making. The dedicated children’s areas, literary programme and interactive shows make it particularly appealing for families, while the headphone disco, late-night performances and comedy stages ensure there is plenty for adults after dark.
Food and drink are a central part of the festival experience. Visitors can expect street-food traders, bars, a real-ale selection and vegetarian and vegan choices, with plenty of informal spaces to sit, eat and catch up between sets. The relaxed racecourse grounds give the whole event an easy-going feel, with stages and activities close enough together to explore without missing the atmosphere.
Camping options usually include standard pitches, family camping and pre-pitched bell tents or larger luxury tent upgrades. Hotels, guesthouses and apartments in Cheltenham offer further accommodation for those who prefer a more comfortable overnight stay. Cheltenham Spa railway station provides connections from across the UK, while local buses, taxis and festival travel information help visitors reach the racecourse.
With The Human League leading the first announcement and more names still to come, Wychwood Festival 2027 promises another colourful weekend of music, laughter and shared discovery.
