Kendal Calling 2027: Music and Adventure in the Lake District
Kendal Calling 2027 returns to the magnificent surroundings of Lowther Deer Park for its 22nd edition, transforming the Cumbrian countryside into a colourful world of music, performance and shared adventure. Framed by rolling hills and ancient woodland, this much-loved festival combines major live acts with the welcoming atmosphere of a community gathering.
Beginning in 2006 with two small marquees in Kendal’s Abbot Hall Park, the festival has grown into one of the UK’s most celebrated independent weekends. Despite its expansion, Kendal Calling has retained the warmth, humour and northern character that made its earliest editions so memorable. Every corner of the Deer Park offers something different, from enormous outdoor performances to unexpected shows hidden among the trees.
The official 2027 line-up has not yet been announced. The previous edition was led by Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice and Two Door Cinema Club, continuing a tradition that has previously welcomed artists such as The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Courteeners, Kasabian, Royal Blood, Stereophonics and Nile Rodgers & Chic. Visitors can expect another broad programme spanning indie, rock, pop, electronic music, folk and emerging British talent when the new names are revealed.
Kendal Calling extends far beyond its main stage. Lost Eden creates an atmospheric woodland world of art, performance and late-night music, while Parklands embraces colourful, anything-goes entertainment. Tim Peaks Diner, Chai Wallahs and other intimate venues provide DJ sets, live discoveries, comedy and spontaneous festival moments. Street-food traders, local ales, cocktail bars and family activities complete the experience.
General camping forms part of the traditional Kendal Calling weekend, with several upgrades available. Emperors Fields and Great Plains offer dedicated facilities, Tangerine Fields provides pre-pitched tents, and Deer Lodge delivers a boutique experience with furnished accommodation, hot showers and a pamper parlour. Live-in vehicle pitches are also available separately.
Penrith North Lakes is the nearest railway station, with festival shuttle buses completing the journey to Lowther Deer Park. Official coach services operate from several UK cities, while drivers should book the correct parking pass and follow festival signage when approaching the site.
With its spectacular landscape, imaginative attractions and a new line-up still waiting to be unveiled, Kendal Calling 2027 promises another unforgettable weekend of music, friendship and discovery in the beautiful Lake District.

Accommodation
Camping during the festival is included with the Weekend Festival Ticket purchased here, so all you need is basic camping gear, like a tent, a camping pad and a head torch (so useful in the night). If you don’t want to bring your own tent the festival offers Premium Camping options purchased here

BY TRAIN
The nearest train station to the festival site is Penrith (also known as Penrith North Lakes) which is a ten minute taxi journey from the site. A special shuttle bus service will run from the station to the festival.
Virgin Trains operate super-fast direct hourly services from Scotland, Birmingham, and London, and from Manchester & North West (with a quick change at Preston or Crewe).
