NEOPOP Festival 2027 – Interplanetary Dance Music by the Atlantic

NEOPOP Festival 2027 returns to Viana do Castelo, transforming Portugal’s Atlantic coast into a powerful meeting point for techno, visual art and global rave culture. Framed by the historic Forte de Santiago da Barra and the ocean beyond, the festival combines ancient stonework with futuristic production to create one of Europe’s most distinctive electronic-music environments.

The 2027 edition marks a return to the NEOPOP name following the festival’s one-off transformation into ANTIPOP for its twentieth-anniversary celebration. That temporary revival honoured the project’s original identity and two decades of underground history. Now, NEOPOP moves forward again while preserving the adventurous curation, community spirit and uncompromising approach that established it as Portugal’s leading techno festival.

The NEOPOP Festival 2027 line-up has not yet been announced. Its previous edition presented a formidable combination of electronic pioneers, contemporary innovators and Portuguese talent, including Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Nina Kraviz, Laurent Garnier, Ben Klock with Rødhåd, Ben Sims with Chris Liebing, Helena Hauff with IMOGEN, FJAAK with KiNK, Goldie, Dax J, Paco Osuna and The Martinez Brothers.

Visitors can expect another carefully shaped journey through hypnotic techno, industrial rhythms, electro, house and experimental electronic music. NEOPOP is particularly celebrated for its ambitious live performances and unusual collaborative sets, placing artists in combinations that create experiences unavailable on a conventional club programme.

The fortress setting becomes an immersive audiovisual world after sunset. Lasers, projections and monumental lighting designs sweep across the stone walls, while powerful sound systems carry deep rhythms towards the waterfront. Beyond the main site, recent editions have expanded into Viana do Castelo through performances in public squares, historic theatres and the festival camping area, strengthening the relationship between NEOPOP and its host city.

Neocamping and upgraded Neoglamping options traditionally provide accommodation for visitors who want to remain close to the festival community. Hotels, guesthouses and apartments are also available throughout Viana do Castelo. Rail connections make the city accessible from Porto, while festival shuttle services have previously linked nearby cities and transport hubs with the event.
