Boom Festival is a biennial (takes place every two years) Psychedelic Trance Music Festival, one of the most popular in the world, taking place on the shores of an enchanting lake near Idanha-a-Nova in Portugal.
Boom Festival offers live dj’s performances, a broad variety of visual art exhibits and workshops with lectures, yoga classes, film screenings, group meditation discussions, healing, holistic teachings and massages. It is a week of love, sharing, alternative culture, music and conscious living with people from all over the world.
In the last 20 years, Boom Festival has advanced every edition and re-invents itself every time. The Boom core crew of around 20 people and 2,000 workers, hundreds of artists and participants work really hard to create the best possible experience for all visitors.
Boom Festival 2021 was rescheduled to 2022 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Tickets remain valid for the 2022 edition. You can read the festival’s statement here
DANCE STAGES
- Dance Temple showcases Full-On or classic Goa Trance during the day, groovy Full-On and Progressive Psytrance in the afternoon and deeply hypnotic genres like Dark and Forest Psytrance in the night.
- Alchemy Circle is the place to discover fresh sounds, from Dark Progressive, Neo Trance, Psy Breaks and Psy Techno, to Glitch Hop, Psy Bass, Dub and Progressive Techno.
- Sacred Fire has a special theme each night, such as Afro Beat, Psych Rock, Dub, Organic Trance, Brazil or Fusion Sound, with plenty of workshops and conscious food corners.
- Chill out Gardens are fuelled by Chill Out music in all its forms, like Ambient, Electronica and Downbeat grooves, the perfect place for inspired hangouts with old and new friends, and every now and then it even turns into an easy-going dancefloor.
Boom is not only a festival, it is a state of mind, inspired by the principles of oneness, peace, creativity, sustainability, transcendence, alternative culture, active participation, evolution and love. Furthermore, it is a space where people from all over the world can converge to experience an alternative reality.

Camping during the festival is included in the festival ticket, so all you need is basic camping gear, like a tent, a camping pad and a head torch (so useful in the night).

Shuttle Buses providing roundtrips from Castelo Branco and Idanha-a-Nova will be available each day of the festival. You can reach Castelo Branco by Bus from Braga, Famalicão, Porto and Guarda.
